La Dame de Montrose 2006

Winemaker's Notes:

The 2nd wine of the formidable Chateau Montrose, now a super-second quite capable of making 1st growth quality wines. For 1/3 the price of the Chateau bottling you can enjoy the luxuriant spicy aromatics and profound earthy richness of Montrose.

A surfeit of oak on the nose with a certain sweet creme de cassis opulence. For the second wine of Montrose, the tannins indicate further aging possiblities (my 2006 Montrose rests securely on its laurels, such as these may be). This is a very typical 2006 Bordeaux from a northern commune with fairly prominent tannic structure and bright red fruit acting as counter-balance. My humble opinion says hold for 2-3 more years and the slight imbalance should naturally correct.
