Winemaker's Notes:

"A superb second wine, 39% of the production made it into the 2000 La Dame deMontrose. Revealing abundant Merlot Characteristics, it offers wonmderfulsweetness, plenty of fat, juicy, chocolatey, black cherry and currant flavorsMerlot, and a hedonistic personality. It will drink well for 8-10 years. Don'tmiss it! " (Robert Parker - Wine Advocate)

This wine is the secondary label of the second growth Chacirc;teau Montrose, from the spectacular 2000 vintage. It is a chance to taste heaven at an earthly price.

Very dark ruby in the glass, almost blackish, with a narrow ruby rim. Syrupy legs, slow, and stained with purple tint. Pronounced aromatics — blackberry, cedar, plum compote, cloves, cardamom — some wafts of alcohol — showing big fruit. Also, an earthy, mushroom component, subtle, layering the nose with intriguing organics beneath the heavy fruit. The palate has a chewy texture, almost jammy, with dense fruitcake flavors, but the woodsy, cedar spice and firm structure prevent the fruit from seeming overly ripe. The tannins are still strong, but not overbearing — although delicious now, I may keep mine in the cellar for another five years, giving the massive fruit and tannins time to integrate.
