Full red with an amber-tinged rim. Exotic, soil-inflected aromas of red berries, truffle, leather, mint and coffee, plus a whiff of coconutty oak. Sweet, broad and supple, but given shape by harmonious acids and sexy oak. One word repeated again and again over three hours: wow.

La Colombina, which borders both the Ciacci estate and the Uccelliera estate in the warm southeastern Castelnuovo dell'Abate district of Montalcino, has been in the Caselli family for generations. The superior location of the estate is immediately evident in the ripe, powerful fruit on the nose, with an underlying intensity and weight that is typical of Castelnuovo dell'Abate, making wines such as those of Ciacci and Uccelliera so compelling and long-lived. About 1200 cases are made each year. - Winery ** Only 5 in Stock **

Boasting a beautiful dark color and rich concentration, the 2010 Brunello di Montalcino awards a good sense of varietal character. There is a lot of layering here and the wine most certainly veers toward a more extracted style of Sangiovese. Nonetheless, the grape’s delicate nuances of dried berry, cassis, blackberry, red earth and pressed rose petal come through loud and clear. Very pretty mineral tones form dusty accents on the edges. The mouthfeel and tannic structure are firm and lively. This is a very attractive wine.

This rich version is saturated with flavors of cherry, plum, spice and earth. The tannins are dense, and the vibrant acidity keeps the wine focused and long. Offers a fine mix of power and finesse, featuring a mineral element on the finish. Best from 2018 through 2035. 1,300 cases made.
