La Cigale' Chateau le Bouis Corbieres 2011

Member Review by duncan 906:

I bought this bottle of wine for £5 when I attended the London France Show back in January. It is from the Corbieres AOC. The Corbieres is a large area of south-west France between the towns of Perpignan, Beziers and Carcasonne where there is a considerable variety of terroir from the coast up in to the hills and where a number of grape types are allowed that achieved AOC status in 1985.95% of production is red. Chateau Le Bouis is a 49 hectare estate between the seaside village of Gruissan and the Montagne de la Clape near the town of Narbonne making several cuvees of red, white and rose wines The 'La Cigale' cuvee is a blend of Grenache and syrah but I have been unable to find out in what proportions .I started my bottle last night with my home-made bacon stew and I did enjoy it. There is plenty of blackcurrant plum and cherry style fruit there and the tannins give structure without being intrusive.I thought it a lovely wine and good value for money

Chateau le Bouis Gruissan:
This 300 year old Corbiere wine estate is owned by Frederique and Jean-Jacque Olivie and is located between the Montagne de Clape and the seaside village of Gruissan close to the town of Narbonne in the South of France. There are 49 hectares on south-east facing slopes and several cuvees of red, white and rose wines are made.Parts of the Chateau are used as a hotel and restaurant.
