External Reviews for La Chapelle de la Mission Haut-Brion Red Bordeaux Blend Pessac-Léognan
A beautiful, soft, richly fruity wine with silky tannins, loads of blue fruits, and hints of smoky barbecue and graphite, the 2000 La Chapelle de La Mission is fleshy, evolved, and complex, a top-notch success that gets a slight upgrade from my original review. Drink it over the next 5-10 years.
Lovely aromas of dried lavender, crushed berries and minerals. Full-bodied, with firm, yet polished tannins and a medium finish of tobacco, berry and dark chocolate. A balanced and very pretty young red. Not quite as exciting as in barrel, but clearl... Wine Spectator. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2000 Mission Haut Brion, La 1500ml
The 2000 La Mission Haut-Brion is certainly one of the candidates for the wine of the vintage. Its performance was off-the-charts in two separate tastings for this report. Deep blue/purple, with a nose of creme de cassis, floral scents, graphite, and subtle smoke, the wine is pure, deep, sumptuously textured, full-bodied, powerful (although certainly not at the power level of the amazing 2009). This wine certainly transcends its 13% natural alcohol and has the same level of concentration found in such great vintages of La Mission Haut-Brion as 1989, 1982, 1975, and of course, more recent efforts such as 2005, 2008, and 2009. Still young but beginning to display some secondary nuances, the wine has enormous layers of depth as well as an unctuous texture. Even though it is still quite youthful, I believe it will hit its prime in another 3-4 years and last 50 or more. It is certainly a wine that will likely jump dramatically in price once the price of the 2009 is released.
Tight and solid, with tobacco, berry, chocolate and vanilla throughout. Medium-bodied, with fine tannins and a delicious finish. The second wine of La Mission. Best after 2008. (JS) Wine Spectator. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2000 Chapelle de la Mission Haut Brion, La 750ml
...At the moment, it is closed, solid and chunky, but all the right hints are there, and it will develop slowly and in a sustained way over many years... Wine Enthusiast. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2000 Mission Haut Brion, La 6000ml
Luxurious Drinks offers you: Wine - red - 2000 - Chateau Mission Haut Brion - Frankreich - Region: Bordeaux - Apellation: Bordeaux - Cabernet Sauvignon blend - 750 ml. 98 RP
Old, aristocratic Bordeaux. This is difficult to consider as a young wine, entangled as it is in oak, the flavors buxom yet guarded. Compressed underneath the substantial weight there’s a sophisticated, expressive Graves, a view into the stones of the soil as polished as the red fruits that form the core of flavor. Within that core, the wine holds all its freshness and power as if in reserve for the decades to come. On the outside, there’s the oak, which only seems to grow more dominant with air, the fruit persisting as an undercurrant. This will need a decade of age to show itself more fully, and will likely continue to evolve for several decades more.
