La Chablisienne Sauvignon de St.-Bris 2015

Member Review by zufrieden:

Looking for a smooth, soft white wine from a good vintage - perhaps even a conversation piece? If yes, this slightly off-the-track Sauvignon Blanc from Auxerre near Chablis may just be the ticket. The wine is less concentrated than SB from the Loire or Bordeaux with a softer, more herbal entry of lemon and grass. Musk tends to dominate elsewhere in France at this price point.. Finish is medium with fig, lemon, grass and a touch of watercress. Best yet. 88.

La Chablisienne:
Since 1923 at Chablis in Burgundy, the meticulous care of the vine-growers working together under the banner of La Chablisienne has given birth to wines whose magnificence is amplified by the passage of time. These wines, coming from a mosaic of "cimats", or vineyard plots, provide a pallet of emotions marked with a truly mineral touch.

For around $10 this is near the top of the QPR list. Plenty of citrus flavors, lemon, just a bit of white grapefruit, green melon, decent acidity and maybe even a hint of basil on the medium length finish.

Lemon grass is prominent in the bouquet and seems a bit more forward than the 2012. Almost Bordeaux in the slightly smoky and more dense aspects, this wine finishes with a touch of almond. A nice summer sipper with a bit of extra flair. 87 points and good value.

The 2013 edition of La Chablisienne Saint Bris is typically light, thirst-quenching and evoking a light scent of smoke, grass and lemon. The flavour is also full of similarly delicate lemon and herbal notes. Perfect for barbequed prawns e. g. and good value. 85 points.

Lemon oil and freshly mowed grass dominates the nose of this wine, while the palate is treated to a spring-water fresh infusion of citrus and gooseberry; there is some tartness, but the mouth-feel is light and easy. Delicious picnic or party fare - not for the serious-minded. Good value and a conversation piece. 87 points.
