Kwv Shiraz 2008
Shiraz is emerging as the Cape’s leading red variety. Because of its adaptability to warm climates it is quickly endearing itself to growers and winemakers alike. New viticultural techniques and the sunny African climate have led to increased phenolic ripeness and increased alcohol levels in the finished wine. The grapes for this wine are carefully selected from vineyards in the Western Cape near the coast. Fermentation occurs with full skin contact and, after the wine completes malolactic fermentation, it is aged in 300 liter oak barrels for twelve months before being filtered, blended, and bottled.

KWV Shiraz has a deep red color and a savory aroma with complex herb and oak notes. The wine is medium-bodied and accessible with ripe fruit, fine tannins, and a touch of pepper and spice.
