Kwv Merlot Kwv 2008
The micro climate of the Western Cape of South Africa closely resembles the Mediterranean climate of southern Europe. Accordingly, it provides optimal growing conditions for grape varietals like Merlot. The warm days and excellent drainage yield exceptional fruit year after year. Once harvested the grapes are fermented on their skins under temperature controlled conditions. Following malolactic fermentation the wine is transferred to 300 liter oak barrels where it matures for twelve months before being filtered, bottled, and blended.

KWV Merlot is a medium bodied, easy to drink Merlot. The soft tannins allow the wine to very approachable from the time it is released. The aromas of black cherry and chocolate are prevalent on the nose and smoothly transition to the palate.
