Kuyen 2009

External Review by Premium Wine & Spirits:

Antiyal’s 2009 Kuyen is composed of 40% Syrah, 37% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Carmenere, and 2% Petit Verdot. Notions of spice box, incense, violets, black plum, and blueberry inform the nose of a forward, spicy, decently concentrated wine that will provide enjoyment over the next 8 years.

An amazingly complex red blend of mostly Syrah, Carmenere, and Cabernet. Lots of herbal notes, eucalyptus, anise and, of course, tons of rich black fruit. Food pairing: red meats Flavor type: fruit-forward Body type: full Finish: rich

Fresh berry, mint, cola and herb aromas make for a classic Maipo bouquet. Feels fresh and good, with plying tannins and bright acidity. Tastes earthy, mossy and herbal, with ample berry fruit. Licorice and prune flavors carry the finish. Syrah with Cabernet, Carmenère and Petit Verdot.

Polished, with a sanguine edge to the spicy cherry and dark wild berry notes that pick up light tannins on the focused, minerally finish. Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenère and Petit Verdot. Drink now.

Vivid ruby. Intense dark berry and licorice aromas are complicated by notes of black pepper and dried flowers. Juicy, tightly focused, youthfully firm black and blue fruit flavors show very good depth and pick up a smokiness with air. Shows very good power on the finish, which features bitter chocolate and cherry pit qualities. This promising wine really deserves a few years of patience.
