Winemaker's Notes:

Vineyard Information * Appellation: Sonoma Valley Kunde Estate * Vine Age: 30 years * Yield: 2 tons per acre * Hillside vineyard 600 - 800 feet elevation * Rocky clay-loam soils Red Hill series #2 * 8 x 12 unilaterial cordon and head training. Harvest/Winemaking * Crafted from a blend of 97% Barbera and 3% Syrah. * Harvested on September 29 at 25.0° Brix. * Fermentation was conducted in temperature controlled stainless steel fermenters using pumpovers twice per day. The fermentation temperature ranged from 68 - 88° F. using selected wine yeasts. * Aged in small oak barrels for 17 months. * Bottled June 2008. Aroma/Flavor Profile Fresh raspberries black cherries and chocolate with a smooth and supple tannin structure Winemaker's Comments "Barbera is truly a Kunde Estate specialty. There is very little grown throughout California particularly in Sonoma Valley. There are so many possibilities with this wine - a rich source of anti-oxidants a partner to some delicious roast chicken a gold - medal award winner! You will enjoy its beautiful raspberry flavors nestled in soft supple tannins with a hint of toasty oak knowing we've raised this wine to be a positive contributing member of your dinner table."
