Kunde Estate Zinfandel Sonoma Valley 2007
"One of the great resources of Kunde Family Estate is our old-vine Shaw Vineyard, located in the hills in the middle of the Estate. We use this fruit not only for our Reserve bottling but there’s always plenty left over to enhance this Sonoma Valley Estate wine as well. The 2007 Kunde Zinfandel is made up of nearly 40% old-vine vineyard grapes, supplemented by our other wonderful estate Zinfandel vineyards. Kunde's red volcanic soil makes for a boysenberry-scented, elegant wine that is still plenty bold and ripe to remind you that this is definitely Zinfandel, after all! That silky texture and the ripe chocolate truffle flavors will fold right in to a French dip or barbequed beef sandwich."

Oh how I love me a good Zin, and certainly it's hard to match the Sonoma Valley for really solid Zinfandels, like the one I'm enjoying this evening, the 2007 Kunde Family Estate Sonoma Valley Zinfandel. Nose is loaded with baking spices and white pepper. It's got nice briary red fruit and hints of black plum with some cocoa. Dark, brambleberry and white pepper. Big baking spice on the finish. - Tasted at winery Feb 2011
Very cabish. Fruit forward and balanced. Firm tannic finish.
Opulent and intense, with just a gorgeous heady nose, but balanced. Very pure Zinfandel. Vanilla, spice and cherry flavors. Give it some time to open up.
A bit of an acidic aftertaste.
Tasy wine for a resonable price. Tastes of old style and new world zin. Fruit is tight but velvety. We enjoyed it - cheers!
