Kunde Estate Red Rhone Blend Sonoma Valley Vallee de la Lune 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

"Spicy! That's what you'll say when you have the 2007 Kunde Family Estate Vallee de la Lune for the first time. This black beauty explodes in your mouth with juicy raspberries and cracked black pepper. We had a good crop of Mourvedre in 2007 and let it take the lead in this blend of three great Rhone red varietals. Want to bring out the fruit in the wine? Serve it alongside a sizzling pepper steak. Want to enjoy that spice? How about a grilled Portobello buger? You won't need to reach for the pepper shaker!"

Intense and complex on the nose with a funky, earthy note to the sweet core of dried plum and berry fruit. This gains nice accents of spice, coffee and a gamy meatiness with air. On the palate this is open knit and full of rich, high-toned red fruits edged with light cinnamon spice and hints of red licorice candy. The finish is long and full of earthy, spicy red fruit tones. A really delicious Rhone blend made up of 58% Mourvedre, 22% Grenache, 18% Syrah, and 2% Sangiovese. 90pts
