Editorial Reviews for Kunde Estate Chardonnay Sonoma Valley Nu
A touch of toast and light wood spice greets the nose over sweet yellow berried fruit. The mouthfeel is polished and soft with light notes of caramel and wood spice accented the core of sweet roasted peaches accented with a hint of white pepper. the finish is clean as a bell with a fine mineral vein if just a tad short. 89pts

Another sweet, oaky Chardonnay joins the ever-growing line. Not that it's an indifferent wine. This family produces nothing but impeccably tailored wines, and this one is among the best of class at this price point.

Ripe and full-bodied with tiers of fruit flavors ranging from green apples and peaches to pears and mango. None-too-subtle oak adds vanilla, smoke and butterscotch elements. Just enough residual sugar for it to drink a bit like an orange-vanilla milk shake.

Wine Tasting NotesOur Estate Chardonnay Nu is a fresh, tropical vacation in a bottle. Clean and crisp with the aromas of ripe peaches and pears. This wine is made up of select Chardonnay blocks that emphasize floral and citrus flavors and an earlier harvest contributes to the lightness and mineral texture. No oak aging has brought out the pure, fresh expression of the Chardonnay grape.

The Maconnais-styled 2000 Chardonnay Sonoma's (30,000 cases produced from 60% barrel and 40% tank-fermented fruit) cooler growing season and higher acids have given the wine a European-like delicacy and crispness. Enjoy it over the next year. While this easy to like, accessible effort lacks complexity, it is a faithful representation of its varietal character, and is meant to offer plenty of up-front fruit as well as pleasure. The wine was produced from 100% estate fruit from the Kunde family vineyards in Sonoma Valley. There has been considerable replanting of some of Kunde's major vineyards.

Here's a big, ripe, creamy, oaky Chardonnay. The oak stars, contributing flamboyant vanilla, char and woody spices, but there's plenty of fruit flavor ranging from apples and peaches all the way to papayas.

Bright, lively and refreshing, with zesty pear, nutmeg, citrus and tangerine notes. Drink now through 2004.
