Light and fresh on the nose with notes of sweet pear, peach and lime gently topped with touches of herb, anise, and gentle smoky wood spice. On entry this is quite delicate and elegant with a lush, round feel showing lovely integration. The flavors are a bit spicier than the aromas with polished, vanilla tinged notes of crisp apple and peach. The finish shows that touch of anise again with a long gentle feel to the lime and peach toned finale. 91pts

Kunde is a family owned wine estate in Sonoma Valley that’s been around for about 100 years. All of its wines are estate bottled, produced from grapes grown in its own 1,850 acres of vineyards, which is very unique in this day and age. What else is unique about Kunde is their commitment to sustainable farming and environmentally beneficial practices throughout the winery. The state of California recognized Kunde Estate and awarded it the Governors Environmental and Economic Leadership Award. In a state known for leading the way on environmental initiatives, this is its highest environmental honor. But what really matters is that with all of this they make outstanding wines. This Chardonnay is partially barrel fermented and then aged 7 months in oak adding a spice and vanilla flavor dimension to the already complex pear and fig nuances. Wine & Spirits Magazine scored it 91 points and picked it as a Top 100 Best Buy of 2010. On Sale!!
Ripe and full-bodied with tiers of fruit flavors ranging from green apples and peaches to pears and mango. None-too-subtle oak adds vanilla, smoke and butterscotch elements. Just enough residual sugar for it to drink a bit like an orange-vanilla milk shake.
Therersquo;s meatiness in the flavors of this wine, a savory character to balance the sweeter peppermint notes. Chill it for a salad of smoked turkey and avocado.
Herersquo;s a big, ripe, creamy, oaky Chardonnay. The oak stars, contributing flamboyant vanilla, char and woody spices, but therersquo;s plenty of fruit flavor ranging from apples and peaches all the way to papayas.
Another sweet, oaky Chardonnay joins the ever-growing line. Not that itrsquo;s an indifferent wine. This family produces nothing but impeccably tailored wines, and this one is among the best of class at this price point.

The beautiful blocks used to craft the 2008 Kunde Reserve Chardonnay grow in bunches with small, luscious globes that turn a beautiful golden color when ripe. They look so wonderful that you want to pop them in your mouth! But it took barrel fermentation to fully unlock all the beautiful apple and floral scents of this wine, which also added flavors of bread dough, cinnamon and nutmeg. Poached salmon with a creamy Dijon dill sauce is a treat you might want to try with this delicious wine. You can almost taste the sun in the golden wine that could only come from Kunde’s Sonoma Valley Vineyards.”
