Earthy and perfumed with a gentle yet complex set of aromatics that are slightly herbal with some tea notes. Smooth, refined and bright on the palate, with a touch of lemon rind accenting the core of apple and pear fruit. There’s a nice mineral note on back end, leading to a refreshing, moderately long finish that shows a bit of orange pith with mineral accents. 88pts

The 2008 vintage was exceptionally ripe and combined with a minuscule yield this vineyard has produced a wine of great beauty and richness. It shows the typical ripe peachy fruit we expect from this site and we also see depth and layers of concentration due to the tiny cropping level. The palate is forward with a xurious creamy texture and lovely balancing acidity.
Coddington Chardonnay comes from a single vineyard about 3 kilometers from the winery that was planted in 1994. The soil here is predominately clay and the vines are all Clone 15. Streamlined and subtle, with fine-grained intensity to the pear, lemon blossom, orange curd and soya flavors. Mineral nuances and nicely integrated oak tones fold into the finish. Drink now through 2010.
