Kumeu River Sauvignon Blanc 2009
Smells and taste like an old grapefruit left on the kitchen counter top for the entire day. Has smells of lysol, the cleaning product, which was not very inviting. It tasted not too bad, with the lysol going away once you tasted it. But one cannot help thinking about someone cleaning the windows or the bathroom. Sad day. This was part of a wine tasting showdown. More on the tastings at http://dionyshius.blogspot.com/2012/03/showdown-saturday.html

"The wine shows remarkable restraint on the nose for a Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc
Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar ReviewHigh-toned aromas of citrus skin, pineapple, apple, smoky pepper and spices, with suggestions of exotic fruits. Intensely flavored, shapely Sauvignon with ripe peach and pear notes and lovely inner-mouth verve. Finishes crisp, long and highly aromatic. A terrific, fruit-driven example of sauvignon blanc.Wine Tasting NotesThe aroma is a strong and zingy expression of the best of Marlborough, with a palate that has concentrated fruit flavors, a rich texture and balanced acidity that Kumeu River always strive for in its wines.
