What to Expect

Chardonnay is America's most popular grape and with good reason. Made in styles that range from steely, mineral laced wines with crisp green apple fruit to wines that are buttery, rich, and laden with tropical fruits, there is a Chardonnay that will appeal to every palate. Chardonnay is most closely associated with France's Burgundy region and California's Northern valleys though it has proven successful around the globe.

Winemakers Notes

The 2000 Kumeu River Chardonnay has been awarded a Blue Gold award judged with food at the Sydney International Wine Competition. The wine has also been included in the Top 100 wines of the show. The show was judged in October 2001 and the trophy winners will be announced in March 2002.

Reviews

One of the best vintages ever at Kumeu River and this is reflected in this wines richness, concentration and length. The intensity, depth of flavour and additional complexity are typical of the Chardonnay that we grow in Kumeu. With the influence of barrel fermentation and extended maturation on yeast lees, followed by malo-lactic fermentation to moderate the acidity, the Chardonnay fruit is given every chance to show itself in the best possible fashion. The perfumed aroma is reminiscent of peaches and honey, and on the palate the delicious buttery, mealy, hazelnut flavour is long and lingering. read more...

WS 93 - Crisp and vibrant, a tightly wound bud holding pineapple, pear and lemon flavours that will burst free after some time in the bottle. Has a touch of butter on the finish. Achei uma minerality baixa acidez. Elegante
