Kuleto Estate Chardonnay Napa Valley 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

Our Chardonnay has a heady citrus aroma and quenching grip as a result. Partial malolactic means a higher finished acidity and minimal new oak keeps all grape and vineyard flavors at the forefront of the wine. This adds up to a wine that is evocative of place and beautifully balanced for the table.

Marrying the eye of a master designer and the heart of a vintner, Pat perceived the vast potential for a world-class vineyard on the mountainous land overlooking Lake Hennessey, Pritchard Hill and the towns of Rutherford and St. Helena. For Pat, the building of his rustically elegant Tuscan-style home, Villa Cucina, and the planting of the surrounding Kuleto Estate vineyards represented the next step in the evolution of a life committed to gracious living and excellence. Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

Lightly toasty on the nose with intense notes of lemon oil, bitter orange marmalade and, tropical fruits and anis emerging from the glass. Nice and bright on entry with a soft richness that barely contains the bright fruit, acid, and subtle hint of wood tannin. While not for the faint of heart this is well balanced and finishes with an intense, full throttle dose of rich, almondy, very ripe orchard fruit. Shows a bit of heat on the finish. 91pts
