Kudos Pinot Noir Yamhill-Carlton District Willamette Valley 2012

Member Review by vin0vin0:

Nice, light to medium bodied Oregon pinot noir. Decent acidity, good black cherry, rhubarb, dark plum and dried prune overtones with a fairly long finish. Good but not great in that there aren't a lot of layers, just a straight forward dark fruit front end.

Coconut Rice Sweet Potato Cheesecake

RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.

Just not much going on here. Much less body than I had hoped for. Touches of smoke and ripe cherries on the nose with cherries and caramel on the palate. Unremarkable finish. I had higher expectations.

Not very complex, a little thin, somewhat angular having acidity but lacking the balance of fruit with little depth of flavor. Started to open up after an hour but still not overwhelming.

A typical Oregon Pinot Noir. A little Cherry with just a hint of tartness. If you were doing a Pinot Noir tasting, this would be a good base line to compare others with.
