Krug Grande Cuvee Brut(NV)

"Krug Grande Cuvée is as a symphony, a composition where the instruments all play together, complementing each other in total harmony."

($140) Light straw. Ripe apple, pear and orange on the nose, along with hints of honey, toffee and brioche. This smells deeper and richer than last year's cuvee but not as toasty as old-time Krug. The crisp pear and apple flavors are nicely lifted by juicy acidity and complicated by gentle baking spices. Finishes with very good focus and length. It may be sacrilege, but I'm finding that I prefer the freshness of the most recent Krug Grande Cuvee bottlings to the older, richer style.
