Krug Collection 1981
The Krug Collection is not a late-disgorged concept, rather one of laterelease....Wines, disgorged at the normal time, which is in any eventafter a fairly leisurely sojourn in bottle, are allowed to mature in the Krugcellars in Reims. When they are released, it is because Olivier or Rémifeel that they are ready to enjoy and tosavour. One can not fault them in thisinstance. A rich hedonistic delight, the famous exotic fruit and oak influencecalmed by the passage of time, this magnum is a banquet.....savoury andrich, the hints of mushroom and truffle adding an appropriate and venerablegarnish. (Simon Field MW, BBR Buyer)
Since 1843, six generations of the Krug family have cultivated the markedly individual character of their exceptional champagne, showing that same single-mindedness and sense of purpose with which the founder, Johann-Joseph Krug, set out alone in pursuit of his objective of creating a champagne with a taste all its own.
