Kris Pinot Noir Venezie IGT 2011

Winemaker's Notes:

Pinot Noir (aka Pinot Nero) is finding a very favorable home in the northeastern area of Italy. There are several excellent producers--*of which Franz Haas is in the top group*--of Pinot Noir in the Trentino-Alto Adige region that made the other Pinot cousin, Pinot Grigio so famous. A very fine value Pinot Noir. This red wine is fruity, with hints of earthiness, and pairs well with a variety of cheeses.

Kris:
KRIS is a fresh, contemporary, and artistic expression of Italian wines from the classic Delle Venezie appellation in Northeast Italy, hand-crafted to exacting standards by the one of the region’s most talented wine makers, Franz Haas.
Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Coconut Rice Sweet Potato Cheesecake

RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.

Sweet and candied on the nose this reminds me of fruit loops cereal, full of orange, cherry and lime aromas. Soft, round and easy to like this offers up a rather anonymous mouthful of chalky red berry fruit with faint herbal accent notes. For a small scaled wine there are some rather obvious tannins here that quickly take control of the modest finish. Chunky and raw this smells better than it tastes. 80pts
