Kris Pinot Noir Venezie IGT 2006
As Pinot Noir remains the red hot grape variety, it seems that many drinkers don’t mind much where it comes from, as long as long as the quality is there. Alois Lageder’s bottling was a standout in our March flyer, and we now follow it up with a great Italian from Kris. This is from the Franz Haas estate in Alto Adige. This, their first release, offers ripe Pinot fruit flavors of black cherry and cassis. It’s unashamedly fruit-driven, but is by no means tutti-frutti. Gutsy, with good structure, it finishes with lingering fine tannins.
KRIS is a fresh, contemporary, and artistic expression of Italian wines from the classic Delle Venezie appellation in Northeast Italy, hand-crafted to exacting standards by the one of the region’s most talented wine makers, Franz Haas.
