Kosta Browne Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir 2013

Winemaker's Notes:

The 2013 Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir is a blend of five vineyards; Garys', Pisoni, Rosella's, Sierra Mar and Soberanes. Aromatics: This wine displays deep notes of orange peel, cherries, allspice, nutmeg and five-spice with a hint of rhubarb and strawberry compote. On the palate: Our Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir is a deeply structured wine. The supple soft tannins give a full mouthfeel with cinnamon and five spice centered in the mid-palate. A mix of dark fruits, such as cranberry and blackberry dominate, ending in a resounding strawberry and dark cherry finish. Not yet reviewed; 2012 vintage rated 94 points by PinotReport.

Flavorful, intense wines - that is our goal. We believe every wine should be bursting with flavor. This intensity should be part of a greater balance. We find that each of our vineyards has its own "sweet spot" of balance. It is our charge to guide each vineyard to its optimum flavor potential. Our single vineyard wines are blended to express the specific qualities and consistencies of our pedigreed vineyards. Pinot Noir is the perfect palate to define the terroir of these plantings. We offer two appellation wines: our Sonoma Coast and Russian River. These wines are blended to represent the best of our vineyards in each specific appellation. Quality is of utmost importance with these blends. Read less
