Enjoyed 2 half bottles at Picco Restaurant in Larkspur (out of full bottles). The first bottle was amazingly smooth, light, complex, not fruity, a superb pinot. Oddly, the second bottle had an initial musty odor, characteristic of an aged italian or french wine; I suspect it was stored in a cold cellar. It was also excellent, but needed to open a little and reach the correct temperature. This is as good as Pinot gets.

Intense and vibrant, with a tight beam of spicy wild berry and blackberry fruit that's fresh and lively, picking up hints of anise, sage, herb and tea, before returning to the dried cherry fruit theme. The initial dusty berry and lead pencil shavings are far richer and fruitier on the palate, while still being very taut, backward, intense and concentrated, with potent wild berry and black cherry fruit that's deep and expansive. Needs time. Best fro... Wine Spectator. A Pinot Noir wine from California in USA. 2005 Kosta Browne Pinot Noir Kanzler Vineyard 750ml

Bold, ripe, expansive and expressive, with layers of spice, black cherry, cola, anise and light toasty oak. Tightly focused, rich and complex, this maintains a beam of fruit and finishes with a long, complex aftertaste. Drink now through 2011. 1,821 ... Wine Spectator.
