Kosta Browne Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast 2012

Winemaker's Notes:

92 points California Grapevine: Medium-light to medium ruby color; attractive, forward, deep, spicy, raspberry and Bing cherry fruit aroma with hints of cinnamon and cocoa; medium-full body; rich, intense, textured, red and black fruit flavors that have good depth and structure; medium to medium-full tannin; a bit rough on the finish; lingering aftertaste. Developed some complexity with airing, though still needs a few more years of bottle aging. Very highly recommended. 14.5% alcohol; released March 2014. (Apr 2014)

Flavorful, intense wines - that is our goal. We believe every wine should be bursting with flavor. This intensity should be part of a greater balance. We find that each of our vineyards has its own "sweet spot" of balance. It is our charge to guide each vineyard to its optimum flavor potential. Our single vineyard wines are blended to express the specific qualities and consistencies of our pedigreed vineyards. Pinot Noir is the perfect palate to define the terroir of these plantings. We offer two appellation wines: our Sonoma Coast and Russian River. These wines are blended to represent the best of our vineyards in each specific appellation. Quality is of utmost importance with these blends. Read less

I have been fortunate to receive an allocation of Kosta Browne wines for the last 4 years, after about 3 years on their waiting list. Since 2006 (my first) both the Sonoma Coast and Russian River applellations have been my favorite wines. This is the kind of wine that you save for those special occasions and life moments that you want to frame by sharing a GREAT bottle of wine. It's memorable with amazing cherry, spice, pepper - with complimenting tannins that speak to its ability to age. I love this full bodied style of Pinot.

Spicy yet smooth. This has character. Good crossover for those liking complex shiraz or cabs.

The winery recommended you wait until 2010 before drinking, but I could not resist. One sip and I was in love. The cherry and baking spice flavors really stood out to me. It was beautifully balanced and had a very long finish. I was sharing this with my sister. Her husband was coming over soon and we opened another Pinot so we would not have to give him any. What can I say. I wanted it all to myself.

Firm and focused, with a wonderful purity of flavor, offering a complex, focused mix of black cherry, raspberry, spice and anise. Full-bodied and concentrated. Long and persistent on the finish. Drink now through 2014. 3,069 cases made. -JL Wine Spectator. A Pinot Noir wine from California in USA. 2007 Kosta Browne Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast 750ml
