Kosta Browne Pinot Noir Santa Lucia Highlands 2006

Winemaker's Notes:

Aromatics: Complex and enticing. Ripe black cherry, lush blackberry with earthy undertones of mushroom, smoke, and a dusting of cocoa. On the palate: A true expression of Sonoma Coast, the 2006 vintage is deep and exotic with layers of ripe black and red fruit and a touch of pie crust. This dense wine fills the palate and yet exhibits hints of minerality, with a lengthy finish. The intense flavors of blackberry, green tea and earthy notes are a prelude to a very long, elegant finish.

Flavorful, intense wines - that is our goal. We believe every wine should be bursting with flavor. This intensity should be part of a greater balance. We find that each of our vineyards has its own "sweet spot" of balance. It is our charge to guide each vineyard to its optimum flavor potential. Our single vineyard wines are blended to express the specific qualities and consistencies of our pedigreed vineyards. Pinot Noir is the perfect palate to define the terroir of these plantings. We offer two appellation wines: our Sonoma Coast and Russian River. These wines are blended to represent the best of our vineyards in each specific appellation. Quality is of utmost importance with these blends. Read less

Huge, loads of finesse. The perfect pinot. Light-medium tannin and acid. Long. Plummy. Integrated. Massive, but restrained. Strawberry.

Acidic edge. Huge! Tannic. Medium body. Mint chocolate. Rich, juicy. Salmon color. 5 year wait!

This wine oozed of smoky rubber bands and offered little else. The body was light even for pinot, perhaps watery. Minimal fruit and tannic structure. whomever posted this wines price at 59.99 is confused because it reatails for $130 usd. I was unable to stomach more than a glass of this wine, beware.

We opened this to celebrate Barack Obama winning the presidential election, and were not disappointed.

Very Fruity and young. Must be decanted at least an hour if opened before 2009. Once decanted it opens up and is delicious.

Bright red color. Ripe red berry and cherry aromas are complemented by clove, mace and cinnamon. Supple and round, with sweet red berry preserve flavors, soft tannins and building ripeness. Smoky, savory dried berry, sage, cola and hints of anise and herb fold together in this sleek, trim, focused youngster. Medium- to full-bodied and well-proportioned, ending with a mix of fruit and cedary oak. Drink now through 2011. 3,567 cases made.... Wine Spectator. Medium red. Intensely perfumed bouquet of spiced cherry, raspberry and blood orange, complicated by smoky minerals and fresh rose. Tangy, sharply focused red berry flavors are medium-bodied and refreshing, picking up a sweeter kirsch note with air. The blood orange quality returns on the long, juicy finish. Sexy and energetic wine-and much more sophisticated than some of this winery's pinot efforts just a few short years ago.
