Kosta Browne Pinot Noir Russian River 2017

Winemaker's Notes:

"The 2017 Pinot Noir Russian River Valley comes from a multitude of sites and spent 17 months in 45% new French oak. It's slightly more reticent than the Sonoma Coast and offers more raspberry, ripe cherries, cola, mulled spiced, and earth. Rounded, beautifully textured, and medium to full-bodied, it has a supple, seamless style that's already a joy to drink. Nevertheless, I suspect it will keep for upwards of a decade."- Jeb Dunnuck *(94 points)*"Juicy, with lithe flavors of crushed red plum, cherry tart and red currant that feature notes of raspberry preserves. The lively finish is ebulliently spiced, showing some flinty hints. Drink now through 2022. 8,500 cases made."- _Wine Spectator_ *(90 points)*

Flavorful, intense wines - that is our goal. We believe every wine should be bursting with flavor. This intensity should be part of a greater balance. We find that each of our vineyards has its own "sweet spot" of balance. It is our charge to guide each vineyard to its optimum flavor potential. Our single vineyard wines are blended to express the specific qualities and consistencies of our pedigreed vineyards. Pinot Noir is the perfect palate to define the terroir of these plantings. We offer two appellation wines: our Sonoma Coast and Russian River. These wines are blended to represent the best of our vineyards in each specific appellation. Quality is of utmost importance with these blends. Read less

I have been fortunate to receive an allocation of Kosta Browne wines for the last 4 years, after about 3 years on their waiting list. Since 2006 (my first) both this Russian River and the Sonoma Coast have been my favorite wines. This is the kind of wine that you save for those special occasions and life moments that you want to frame by sharing a GREAT bottle of wine. It's memorable with amazing cherry, spice, pepper - with complimenting tannins that speak to its ability to age.

A very nice Pinot with nice cherry and strawberry on the nose. The palate seems to have layers of red fruit but the strawberry and raspberry are oh so slight with the cherry being most dominant with intermixed spice/cinnamon detection. Drank at an outdoor dinner in which the outside air turned cooler and the wine enhanced as it cooled also. Very nice and glad I have another to enjoy!
