Kosta Browne Kanzler Pinot Pinot Noir California Red 2003

Winemaker's Notes:

One thing is for sure, Kanzler Vineyard has a distinct terrior and produces fruit of exceptional quality. Our 2003 Kanzler Vineyard Pinot Noir is exotic to say the least. This wine is deep, complex and bursting with intense flavors and aromatic. The vineyard is located just south of Bodega Highway in the Petaluma Land Gap, which is a very cool sight a few miles east of the Pacific Ocean. The Kanzler Vineyard Pinot Noir is a blend of clones 667, 115 and Pommard and was aged in 100% French oak barrels-41% new oak-for 17 months. While you may be tempted to drink this now, and it is drinking well, it will continue to significantly improved and drink well over the next 5-10 years. Aromatics Profiles of blackberry, black cherry and rose petal supported by a rich, bold core of dark stone fruit and cedar. On The Palate Bold blackberry and cherry are prominent with undertones of sweet spice, leather and cedar. A bold Pinot Noir, the Kanzler Vineyard exudes stunning depth, which lingers throughout the long finish. The dark fruit quality prevails, complimented with sweet oak, chocolate and floral notes, making this wine extremely complex and layered.

Flavorful, intense wines - that is our goal. We believe every wine should be bursting with flavor. This intensity should be part of a greater balance. We find that each of our vineyards has its own "sweet spot" of balance. It is our charge to guide each vineyard to its optimum flavor potential. Our single vineyard wines are blended to express the specific qualities and consistencies of our pedigreed vineyards. Pinot Noir is the perfect palate to define the terroir of these plantings. We offer two appellation wines: our Sonoma Coast and Russian River. These wines are blended to represent the best of our vineyards in each specific appellation. Quality is of utmost importance with these blends. Read less

This amazing Pinot combines power and grace displaying an enormous range of deep rich concentrated flavors built around a core of vibrant raspberry blackberry and wild berry picking up hints of cedar rose petal and nutmeg flavors on the finish. The tannins are rich and combined with the acidity give this wine superior structure. Drink now through 2011. Tasted twice with consistent notes. 270 cases made. (JL) Wine Spectator.
