Korbel Sweet Cuvee 2011
This champagne is made using the méthode champenoise process. Many sweeter-styled sparkling wines are made with a less costly bulk process known as the charmat, which skips traditional in-bottle secondary fermentation. Our Sweet Cuvée has beautiful, gemlike bubbles and is made in a bright, fruit-forward style. It has a bright citrus and tropical fruit character.
Korbel Winery was established by Bohemia-born Francis Korbel and his brothers, Joseph and Anton, in 1882 and is the oldest continually operating champagne house in North America. KORBEL California champagnes are the product of a passionate devotion to the wine-making craft, generations of experience and expertise, and an uncompromising standard for excellence. This champagne has a bright citrus and tropical fruit character, which complements the medium sweet finish. All of the grape varieties used are harvested early in the growing season to ensure that the blend has a bright acidity to balance the sweetness.
Sugary sweet in orange, pineapple, peach and vanilla flavors, this bubbly is based on Chenin Blanc and Chardonnay, with other grape varieties contributing a minor role. Itrsquo;s clean, with fine acidity providing balance.
Like the label suggests, itandrsquo;s sugary in tangerine, vanilla cookie and butterscotch flavors, with crisp acidity and fine, scoury bubbles. A nice sparkling wine for those who like a sweeter style.
Yes, this blend of Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, French Colombard and Muscat Canelli is quite sweet, with sugary flavors of oranges, peaches, vanilla and toast. And yes, some people will turn their noses up at it. Too bad for them — it’s an ideal wine for drinking at the beach or picnics, or celebrating just about anything.
