Korbel Sec 2013
Korbel Sec was the very first champagne produced by Korbel in the mid-1890s, and it is still created in its original style. Sec is made from Chenin Blanc and French Colombard grapes, and finished with a 1.5% by weight dosage. Korbel Sec has flavors of ripe melon and apricot with a touch of sweetness that makes it an excellent choice to accompany fruit salads and desserts such as custards, tarts, sorbets and light cakes
Korbel Winery was established by Bohemia-born Francis Korbel and his brothers, Joseph and Anton, in 1882 and is the oldest continually operating champagne house in North America. KORBEL California champagnes are the product of a passionate devotion to the wine-making craft, generations of experience and expertise, and an uncompromising standard for excellence. Editorial Reviews for Korbel Sec
Almost peachy on the nose with plenty of orchard fruit topped with hints of smoke and jasmine. Apple fruit on entry is quite pronounced along with a touch of sweetness, though it’s nicely balanced by plenty of acidity. The palate shows more floral character, something tropical and pungent which is a departure for classic sparkling wines. Fun, with a relatively fine mousse and a modest pithy citrus finish. 86pts
I am enjoying Korbel Sec today for the first time! I find it very light, slightly sweet, delicious! This is probably a good choice for almost everyone.
External Reviews for Korbel Sec
Korbel Sec is sweet with great acidity. Flavors of citrus fruit show through with a crisp pop from the bubbles on the finish.
