Kooyong Pinot Noir Haven 2005

External Review by JJ Buckley Fine Wines:

Dark red. Explosively perfumed aromas of vibrant red and dark berries, fresh rose and musky underbrush. A dead ringer for a Vosne-Romanee, showing sweet but focused raspberry and wild strawberry flavors complicated by licorice and roasted coffee. Thi... Stephen Tanzers IWC. A Pinot Noir wine from Victoria in Australia. 2005 Kooyong Pinot Noir Haven 750ml

The vineyard and winery are part of the Gjergja family domain which also includes Port Phillip Estate. Kooyong is planted to 30 hectares of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris vineyards, all north facing to maximise their exposure to the sun. There are five distinct vineyards of which three are planted to Pinot Noir, two predominantly to Chardonnay, and a small section of Pinot Gris. A small amount of Viognier is also planted on the property. Read less

As deeply coloured as Ferrous; the ripest (apparently) and most powerful, especially in terms of structure; some foresty tannins just make their presence felt, and add to the character of the wine. James Halliday. A Pinot Noir wine from Victoria in Australia. 2005 Kooyong Pinot Noir Haven 750ml
