Konzelmann Pinot Blanc-Weissburgunder 2010

Member Review by NiagaraWiner:

Ah Pinot Blanc! All too rare and unassuming. It is said that Pinot Blanc is the party wine. In some respects that is true, since it can be seen as a safe white bet for the occasional wine drinker. Nevertheless, I appreciate that Konzelmann has taken on Pinot Blanc and succeeded in creating a rather fun and lengthy wine. This white wine is full bodied in taste but light in texture. It has a brisk scent of citrus fruits and flowers followed by a lengthy mouthful with balanced acidity. The palette lacks the complexity of a good chardonnay, but amuses nonetheless. This wine avoids the excessive tartness sometimes associated with its varietal. The oak ageing is evident and well considered.

The Konzelmann Estate Wines are enjoyed by wine enthusiasts from over the world. It's a great travel destination for all wine lovers. The Protection Provided by the Nearby Niagara Escarpment, combined with the moderating influence of the lake, provides a longer growing period for the "noble" Vitis vinifera vines of Pinot Noir, Riesling, and Chardonnay grapes. The cool-climate viticulture conditions are often enhanced by a "Indian Summer" warming in autumn that allows a late harvest. The fine acid balance and natural sugar content of the grapes are maximized and the wine is full-bodied. Read less
