Very tasty, exhibiting candied berry, dried apricot and mandarin orange notes framed by a lively structure. Developing nicely, it appears to have plenty of reserve. Drink now through 2012.
Winemaker Herbert Konzelmann founded this estate in 1984, on the banks of Lake Ontario in Canada's Niagara Peninsula. The winery offers a range of dry wines as well as this ice wine, a style that the area is particularly known for. One of the top-scoring Canadian ice wines to date, its grapes were harvested on a frosty, 14° F. day in January, and the wine fermented for almost two months in stainless steel before it was bottled.
Intense aromas and flavors of beeswax, orange marmalade, vanilla and apricot. Concentrated, yet lithe and supple, with bright acidity and great harmony. Lovely finish and long marmalade aftertaste. Drink now through 2020.
This golden-colored dessert wine has a rich, luscious sweetness with distinct aromas of apricot and honey. Tropical fruit flavors combined with a nice, crisp acidity are balanced and allow for an enjoyable, lingering finish. Great match for a berry tart.
Dark golden luster. Moderately full-bodied. Highly extracted. Honeyed aromas lead a fruity palate that turns a little syrupy through the finish. Impressive, though only for drinking in small quantities.
One of the more expensive Niagara icewines, Konzelmann lives up to its price tag with this stylish blend of marzipan and almond notes on the nose and an intense palate laced with macaroon and honey flavors. The long finish shows a nice acidic lift.
