Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Coconut Rice Sweet Potato Cheesecake

RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.

A special selection of the top barrels (125-150 cases produced), the 2007 Chardonnay The Judge is more backward than the regular Chardonnay, revealing a liqueur of rocks-like character intermixed with hints of almond paste, tropical fruits, quince, and mango. Its incredible length, richness, and depth suggest this wine will benefit from 1-2 years of bottle age, and should keep for over a decade.

Winemaker's Notes:

If you are in search one of the most premier and sought after Chardonnay's in the state of California than this is right up your alley. Kongsgaard has been allocated since its inception and we were lucky enought to accquire a total of 3 bottles this year!!! Kongsgaard The Judge Chardonnay 2007 Napa Valley gains its extraordinary power from the shy-bearing rocky site which Johnís grandfather originally intended to use for his stone quarry. The miniscule yield may account for the wineís intensity. At just over one ton per acre, it takes two vines to produce one bottle of wine. Robert Parker found it to ìpossess great substance as well as finesse. A liqueur of minerals, subtle, smoky hazelnuts, and full-bodied pineapple, orange blossom, quince, and mango flavors emerge from this stunning, well-textured, layered Chardonnay.î Steve Tanzer found the 2007 Judge ìSuave and seamless on entry, then dense and gripping in the middle, with superb intensity and lift to the flavors of lime zest and rocks.î The wine is named after Johnís late father who was the Judge in Napa County.
