Kokomo Zinfandel Dry Creek Valley 2008

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

Dusky on the nose with a bed of forest-floor soil tones, topped by vanilla-laced cherry and raspberry fruit, backed up with some lightly smoky cedar wood tones. Soft on entry with bright red fruits in the mouth. This has lovely minor yet fuzzy tannins and a great core of cherry, strawberry fruit. It’s not complex and the alcohol does show through a bit, but it is fun to drink and has an agreeable character. 87pts

Started in 2004 with the production of a single vineyard Cabernet from Mounts Vineyard, Kokomo Winery focuses on single vineyard wines that show a distinct terroir. We believe that our small production techniques and relationships with growers allow us to make wines that are individual and unique as the vineyards they were born from. We think you should drink local and think global and we are proud to support causes we believe in located in Sonoma County, like the annual Harmony Festival, Art for Life, KRCB, Food for Thought and the annual Mayacama Celebrity Golf Tournament, just to name a few. In January 2008, we celebrated the opening of our brand new winery at Timber Crest Farms in Dry Creek Valley. Visitors to our winery will enjoy a unique wine tasting experience - we have incorporated the tasting room into our cellar. We are located on a beautiful 120 acre vineyard on the Dry Creek East Bench, and our estate fruit consists of Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Primitivo, Muscat Blanc, and Sauvignon Blanc. Tasting Room Open Daily 11am - 4:30pm. Read less
Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Coconut Rice Sweet Potato Cheesecake

RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.
