The verdant Constantia valley, home to Klein Constantia Estate, is the oldest, most enduring vineyard region in the Cape, first producing wine in 1689. Family owned and run, Klein Constantia's philosophy is founded on quality rather than quantity, reflected in the wines regularly inviting accolades, both locally and internationally. The 2008 Estate Riesling, despite the wet conditions and subsequent lower yields, provided excellent quality fruit with super acidity and fresh aromatics. The wine is light yellow in appearance with a greenish tinge. The nose exudes mandarin, pineapple and citrus blossom aromas. The intense palate balances the fine, mineral element of the wine's structure. It offers a wonderful persistence of flavour on the finish and bodes well for further maturation in bottle. This Riesling is fantastically partnered with Cider-braised ham or with Thai dishes, so enjoy!
