What to Expect

Chardonnay is America's most popular grape and with good reason. Made in styles that range from steely, mineral laced wines with crisp green apple fruit to wines that are buttery, rich, and laden with tropical fruits, there is a Chardonnay that will appeal to every palate. Chardonnay is most closely associated with France's Burgundy region and California's Northern valleys though it has proven successful around the globe.

Winemakers Notes

Spectacular ripeness along with a liquid minerality give this large-scaled, bigger than life Chardonnay tremendous balance/equilibrium. This compelling, full-bodied, dense wine offers smoky hazelnut characteristics intermixed with oranges, lemons, tropical fruits, and hints of Grand Marnier as well as caramel. There is a lot going on in this full-bodied, concentrated yet impeccably well-balanced offering. It should drink well for a decade.

Reviews

Rating: 94/100 - As reviewed by International Wine Cellar in Issue 126, May/June 2006 ($65) Medium yellow with green highlights. Subtle aromas of peach blossom, lemon cream and vanilla. Big, sweet, layered and rich; chewy but not at all heavy. Very highly concentrated wine with ripe, pure fruit flavors of citrus and stone fruits. Wonderfully ripe and fruit-driven without being exotic. Very long and rich on the back.
