REGION
Adelaide Hills, South Australia
VINEYARD
The fruit for this wine was sourced from the Edwards vineyard at Mt Torrens, in the cool-climate Adelaide Hills. The grapes were picked on 30th March at 13.4 Baume.
GROWING CONDITIONS
Favourable spring rains followed by warm, sunny conditions led to the development of vigorous vine growth and good fruit set in the Adelaide Hills, with Sauvignon Blanc crops in perfect balance. In the end, lighter bunch weights led to slightly reduced yields, but resulted in Sauvignon Blanc with generous fruit read more...intensity, matched by good acid levels.
WINEMAKING
The fruit was given several hours of skin contact, to increase the richness and mouth feel of the wine. After gentle pressing, the free-run juice was cool-fermented in stainless steel, prior to stabilisation and filtering. The wine was deliberately left unwooded to retain its delicious fruit and freshness, and bottled soon after vintage.
ANALYSIS
pH 3.25 TA 7.35 Alc 13.5% Residual Sugar 0.15gms
WINEMAKER’S TASTING NOTES
Pale straw-yellow in colour, with powerful varietal aromatics on the nose, featuring cut grass, lemon citrus, and subtle tropical scents. There is an abundance of sweet fruit on the palate, dominated by pineapple, passionfruit and honeydew melon, but balanced nicely by herbaceous undertones. The concentrated mid-palate richness leads to a dry finish of considerable length and persistence, with the fruit intensified by racy acidity.
A wine to be enjoyed while young, with the screw-cap closure ensuring its freshness and vitality. (hide)
