VINEYARD
The Contour block on the Stanway family vineyard at Watervale produced superb fruit this season, fully ripe at 10.9 baume, and a portion of the wine from this block was kept aside and bottled separately as the 2005 Reserve.
GROWING CONDITIONS
The growing season in Clare this year was widely considered to be almost perfect, with a warm spring and mild summer combining with regular rainfall to provide even and consistent vine growth and fruit ripening. A warm, dry autumn allowed fruit to be picked in read more...optimum condition.
WINEMAKING
The grapes were picked, crushed and de-stemmed, then chilled prior to draining and pressing. The free run juice was cool-fermented in stainless steel, and the resultant wine racked and stabilised prior to being filtered and bottled, with the entire process completed as quickly as possible to retain the characteristic crispness and finesse of this style.

WINEMAKER’S TASTING NOTES
Made entirely from free run juice, this wine features all the hallmark of quintessential Clare Valley Riesling. It displays lifted citrus and lime aromas and great fruit intensity, complimented by steely acidity.
While lovely to drink when young and fresh, this special, limited release bottling will develop into a mature wine of classic stature.
