What to Expect

Blaufränkisch is a grape most commonly associated with Austria, though it is grown with much success throughout Eastern Europe and parts of the United State's Pacific Northwest. It produces rich, medium-bodied wines with juicy acidity and crisp tannins that support intensly fruity flavors of wild blackberries and raspberries. The wines benefit from several years in the cellar.

Reviews

Kiona produced the first commercial varietal Lemberger in the US in 1980, and we are still doing it better than anyone else.

Rich red wine aromas with nuances of Cabernet or Merlot are present, but with a spicy background that’s not easy to identify at first tasting. Wonderful and well-defined aromas of blackberries and cloves emerge with more experience. This mildly tannic wine sports great structure, with a velvet mouth feel. American and French oak are evident in the long, smooth finish.

Great glass of wine. Starts with a very nice aroma, has an excellent start and an even better finish.

Kiona produced the first commercial varietal Lemberger in the U.S. in 1980. This uniquely styled medium bodied red wine is very fruity with subtle oak undertones and rich full flavors, with suggestions of blackberries and cloves.

Review: Soft and luscious, this red wine from one of the world's premier lemberger producers has soft, jammy berry fruit. A delicious, concentrated wine with a long, smooth finish. Won gold at the Tri-Cities Wine Festival.

This is a huge glass of wine for the price. Spicy, rich and full bodied. Notes of cinnamon and robust black fruits. Alcohol is notable on the palate. Finish goes on and on.
