King Estate Winery Pinot Gris Oregon 2013

Member Review by angelsshare:

Great Pinot Gris from Oregon. Moderately priced and nice quality. I love the crispiness and the acidity of this wine, as well as its tropical fruit explosion. Perfect bottle of wine for a warm day and pairing with lemon-buttered grilled chicken.

My first foray into the Pinot Grigio. Lighter on the nose than the reds. I can spell the crispness and the lighter fruits. Can't pick out anything specific. A very nice palate...a lot of flavors playing in there...the acidity hits after some time trying to pick out the flavors...and it's quite enjoyable. There's no kick on the back end, however the flavors and acidity linger...never too much though. If this is how the Pinot Grigio's are...I'm a fan.

Light straw color with an emerald green hue. Aromas of green apples, citrus, honeysuckle, white peach, and floral notes. Pear, melon, lemon and lime, wet stone, kiwi, and honey on the palate. The mouthfeel has soft rich entry, nice texture, good weight, and a long lively crisp finish.

WS 89 Pts - According to Wine Spectator - Tangy and bright, with grapefruit and lime accents to the pear and almond flavors. Lingers nicely. According to Wine & Spirits Magazine - 2010 Winery of the Year and a 2010 Value Brand of the Year. 92 points Wine & Spirits: "Bright and exuberant as soon as it hits the glass, this wine has vibrant and persistent tangerine and white peach scents. On the palate it has a fresh mineral bite, the flavors more in the vein of citrus, the acidity lively and on point." This is the benchmark for domestic Pinot Gris, with aromas of grapefruit, green apple, honeysuckle, white peach, apricot, lime and floral notes with flavors of melon, mineral, lively citrus, stone fruit and honey. Soft, rich with nice texture and good weight, this is balanced by a long lively crisp finish.
