King Estate Pinot Gris 2005
Heard about this wine on a radio show, making a road trip from Atlanta, Ga to Charleston, SC (the wonders of satellite radio) for Thanksgiving....the radio program was "A Chef's Table". The topic was what wines can you serve with turkey. Amongst other things, the King Estate Pinot Gris was mentioned (the fact that it was from Oregon made it more intriguing). Not having much experience with wines from Oregon or with Pinot Gris.....out of curiosity I sought it out. It delivers. Reasonably priced. Straight forward, not very complex until it warms and breaths a bit. The second glass was better than the first (and not for obvious reasons).....it had a chance to develop a little bit. I've not had it with Turkey, but I have had it with roasted chicken and game birds......with braised root vegetables (carrots, onions, sweet potatoes, garlic). I really like it. Nose - peach / pear / fruity Taste - crisp / acidic - lemon / lime / apples Finish - nice and full.....rich but not over the top creamy
More flabby than I would have liked, and little complexity - even for a Pinot Gris
Great pear , and fruit taste! One of the best Pinot Noir's I have had. Crisp, clear, refreshing taste and not bitter at all. DELICOUS-and not too expensive.
