than most of the Central Coast, Paso Robles is best suited for producing soft, fruity reds with gentle tannins like this smooth Merlot.
A deep ruby colored wine with a fragrant nose of ripe blackberry and spice aromas. On the palate this wine delivers ripe jammy fruit flavors (berries, plums and black currants) as well as some earth and herb notes typical of California Merlot. The wine has a smooth, silky mouthfeel, low tannins and a pleasant finish on fruit. Drink now to 2009 with lamb chops, chicken (grilled or roasted), steak, pizza, or burgers.

Every once in a while we find a wine value from California that we cannot pass up. These wines come from the San Antonio winery, one of the oldest wineries in Southern California. This vast vineyard area consistently turns out some of the country’s best inexpensive wines, and its best appellations, partly thanks to the film Sideways, are now very highly regarded. The winemaking team of Anthony Riboli, a 4th generation California winemaker, and Arnaud Debons, a Frenchman with experience in Bordeaux, work hard in the vineyards to ensure that only the best fruit makes it to the winery.
