Kim Crawford 'Unoaked' Chardonnay 2016

Winemaker's Notes:

f you like Chardonnay with true expression of fruit then this is one to love! This wine does not hide behind any oak. It’s a crisp wine that tastes of the succulence and freshness of the grape. An approachable and full-bodied Chardonnay that shows great length and persistence. Ripe stonefruit, butterscotch, and citrus characters show through well, in a style uncluttered by oak. -Wine Maker's Notes

Kim Crawford Wines:
One of the reasons why New Zealand Sauvignon Blancs have taken the world by storm. Delightful to the point of exuberance, this is a great wine for drinking alone of with lighter fare.

Fruity and acidic with a smooth finish. Everything I look for in a good white.

Nicely balanced fruit to acidity. First unoaked chard that I didn't feel was trying to imitate SB.

The 2012 version of this wine no longer carries the Marlborough appellation as the older ones did. It just says East Coast. It is a blend of Hawke's Bay and Marlborough. The result is not a good one. This wine is a shadow of the previous wines. There is almost no fruit and the finish is short. Nice color and good acid balance though. My rating -- 80. It is priced as if it were the Marlborough wine and I find that a bit deceptive.

Decent NZ unoaked chardonnay. Middle of the road with some nice citrus flavors, a little spice, a bit of creaminess and a decent finish. Not overly complex but a good QPR.

Very nice unoaked New Zealand chardonnay. Crisp and clean on the frontend with nice citrus and balanced acidity. Lemon, apricot and gala apple with a very cleansing mouth feel.

Soft, with a creamy texture and delicate pear, peach and citrus flavors. Appealing for its light touch and details of spice and floral notes. Drink now.

Green pear, dried yellow apple and wet stone nuances have good concentration, with tart lemon rind and a hint of balsamic in the finish. Drink now.

Simple fruit flavors of golden pear balance this winersquo;s malty scents of lees. Itrsquo;s a clean, grapey white for crawfish.

A reliably fruit-filled offering, the 2005 version offers honeyed apple, melon and pear flavors carried by a well-rounded and slightly viscous wine. On the soft side, with a pithy note to the finish.

The 2007 Marlborough Unoaked Chardonnay has a lovely floral nose with hints of mango and guava, the palate simple and straightforward, clean and focused with a touch of honeysuckle towards the finish.

Poached pear, roasted yellow apple and lemon skin flavors have very good concentration. Drink now.

Bright and lively. A lean, fragrant style that offers lime, melon and hints of spice as the finish lingers deftly. Drink now through 2013.
