Kilikanoon Killermans Run Shiraz 2005
Wow. This one has made me realize why South Australian shirazes were my first love of wine. Very dark colour, almost black. Wonderful nose - the spice just oozes out of the glass. Superb tasting. Heavy fruit as you would expect - blackcurrant and cherry. Nice and peppery, though not overpowering. Nicely balanced - lingered on the palate for a nice amount of time. Very good wine.Add winemaker's notes

A good shiraz, but really needed decanting. This was very fruity on first opening, but smoothed out over the couple hours it was opened. Decanting would have helped a lot. Much more flavor after it sat open for awhile.
Bold, dark red color. Excellent pallate long and smooth at finish. Earthy nose, hint of pepper.
Very fruity - plums, blackberries, some nice tannins and a touch of mint. A very fruity, full wine with some nice spice on the finish. Excellent. And for the price, very excellent. Served with mild beef curry.
Three and a half glasses
External Reviews for Kilikanoon Killermans Run Shiraz
The 2002 Shiraz Killerman's Run is produced from vineyards Kevin Mitchell sources primarily in the Clare Valley and Barossa. It is a dense, full-throttle, big, chewy, peppery, black fruit-dominated Shiraz offering sweet tannin, an attractive plushness, and an up-front style designed for consumption over the next 2-4 years.
The dense ruby/purple-hued 2003 Shiraz Killerman's Run (bottled unfiltered with a Stelvin screw cap) reveals remarkable intensity along with beautifully pure, cigar smoke-tinged black currant fruit, and licorice notes. Medium to full-bodied, layered, and rich, with a terrific savory mouthfeel, this is a stunning wine to drink over the next 7-8 years.
The best value here is the 2001 Shiraz Killerman's Run. A 100% Shiraz from Barossa, McLaren Vale, and Clare Valley vineyards, it possesses a deep, saturated plum/ruby color, plenty of black cherry, licorice, pepper, and spicy aromas, medium to full body, a lush, plump palate, and a fat, fleshy finish. Consume it over the next 2-3 years.
