Kenwood Vineyards Reserve Zinfandel 2010
The 2010 Kenwood Reserve Zinfandel was carefully selected from individual barrels of our finest Zinfandel lots by our winemaking team. The vineyards used to make the blend are located in some of Sonoma County’s best appellations, including the Alexander, Sonoma and Dry Creek Valleys. A small amount of the fruit was sourced from a hillside vineyard located in Lake County’s High Valley appellation. Before bottling, Petite Sirah was added to the blend to give the resulting wine more character and backbone.

Nice American oak on the nose, all vanilla with that sweetness that lifts the briary red fruit, with hints of a little blueberry and blackberry jam. Vanilla again on entry, with a nice sweetness that is balanced by fine baking acid and lovely tannin base. This shows lovely purity with a just slightly pie filling-like core of cherry fruit. Nice crisp plum acids turn to plum skin on the back end, with a bit of a chunky/clunky finish. This needs a few months to smooth out a bit. 87pts
After 3 years of cellaring this wine was worthy of being called a Reserve.
Nice! Full body. A typical zin with a little spice.
Great full-bodied, smooth and tasty zin. Lovely spice on the nose, berries and jammy flavors with a hint of oak, and light tannins. Finish is slightly sour.
