Kenwood Pinot Noir Reserve 2011
Kenwood’s 2011 Russian River Reserve Pinot Noir is sourced from vineyards located in the heart of Sonoma County’s Russian River Valley. This cool region is best known for growing delicate and flavorful Pinot Noir. The cool terroir combined with ideal soil make for exceptional Pinot Noir grapes with distinctive cherry and spice flavors. The low yield of the 2011 vintage produced fruit with an excellent natural balance of acid and sugar. The delicate Pinot Noir grapes were harvested and crushed with great care, with ten percent of the grapes undergoing whole cluster carbonic maceration in the fermentation tanks. This old-world technique enhances the fruitiness of the wine. Eleven months of aging in new French oak barrels enhanced the wines depth and complexity.
