Located in the heart of the Sonoma Valley, Kenwood Vineyards is dedicated to producing premium wines truly representative of Sonoma County’s world-class vineyards. Kenwood Vineyards was established in 1970 in the former Pagani Brothers Winery, a historic cellar dating back to 1906. Thoroughly refurbished and modernized, the facility now boasts more than 125 stainless steel fermenting tanks and large oak uprights, and 20,000 small French and American oak barrels, all devoted to Kenwood Vineyards’ “small lot” style of winemaking. In addition to the 22-acre vineyard surrounding the winery, Kenwood Vineyards sources grapes from dozens of vineyards – many farmed sustainably, using natural soil amendments and pest controls whenever possible rather than chemicals - in Sonoma County’s best appellations, including Russian River Valley, Alexander Valley, Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma Valley and Sonoma Mountain. Each lot from each vineyard is kept separate throughout the winemaking process, enabling the winemaker to bring it to its fullest potential. This “small lot” or “cuvee” style of winemaking also enables the winemaker to draw on an exceptionally broad “palette” to assemble wines that showcase classic character, subtle complexity and superb balance. As a result, every Kenwood Vineyards wine – whether Table Wine Series, Sonoma Series, Reserve, Jack London Vineyard or Artist Series – is consistent in quality and consistently delicious. Read less
Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

Vegetal first aromas, hot & tobaccoey leads to vanilla oak & tar in the mouth that over-power the burnt and dark berry fruit. Very woody finish. Very pricey and little value at $56

Here are my notes from a blind tasting that I attended last week. Dark Cherry, a nose of Iron, with zesty spice, and OK fruit. Kind of hot, slightly diluted, with OK tannins on the finish. With our session of industry folk, out of the several people who blind tasted this wine, I believe 90% of the participants rated this wine well below the wines that were under $15 during our California cabernet tasting. I didn't like this wine much. Later, when this wine was revealed, and its price tag, I felt sick. With this lackluster 2004 effort, in an otherwise good vinatge, Kenwood beckoned upon commercial designer Shepard Fairey, for their 30th anniversary label. It's Ironic, since Fairey wants to produce product for the masses. This wine seems like such an item, but the price tag does not reflect that notion. I wouldn't buy this bottle, even if it was priced at $20. Further more, if Shepard Fairey wants to lend his name and designs for such a poor product, it seems fitting.

There was just a little something about this that turned me off it. It wasn't bad, but I didn't think it was great either. It was just... boring. Purchased for $4.99 at Grocery Outlet (train derailment). Damn! I bought this twice. Shame. Still boring the second time around.

Really beautiful bottle, and really well-structured, smooth Cabernet. Good to drink now but I think i'll save this for a few years at least...

First of all, Kenwood Yulupa doesn't sell in grocery stores. Also, Kenwood Yulupa doesn't contain cab franc. Stop trying to pose...recognize. By your picture, I can tell that you are a little older. When did you buy it...1936?

Excellent length. Drink now through 2015."92 Points - Wine Enthusiast "With this wine, Kenwood is seriously poaching on Napa Valley cult Cab territory. Shows powerful, intense chocolate, blackberry pie filling and smoky new oak flavors wrapped into soft but complex tannins. Yes, the alcohol is high, but the wine is dry and frankly delicious."
