Editorial Reviews for Kenwood Jack London Vineyard Zinfandel
A little light at first but turning more lightly spiced blackberry jammy with air. Nice a clean with a really lovely bit of bramble but the alcohol is a touch obvious. A bit of brownie and forest floor completes the nose. Nice and dry on entry with some tannin offering a nice bit of grab. The flavors are fresh if not terribly intense, strawberry and black raspberry jam. Crisp finish, turns a touch astringent and shows some heat. 87pts

But the lava-terraced vineyards on the ranch are farmed by Kenwood Vineyards who produce this exceptional Zinfandel. The wolf head label tells you it’s the Jack London Vineyard bottling from the outside, but inside, it’s the wine that tells you .This unique zinfandel from low yield grapes has intensity and depth as well as elegance and style- ipe berry and spice flavors with nuances of mint and gravel. A 92 point Editors Choice in Wine Enthusiast Magazine which said “This Zin shows classic Sonoma County character, but it’s also a tannic, young wine that wants a little time in the bottle. Tasted at the age of two, it’s astringent and jammy, with pepper-infused blackberry and mulberry flavors and a gamey touch of smoked beef. Give it until mid-2009, when it will be fantastic with grilled beef.” Expires 11/29 at 11:59 PM ET 15% Case discount not valid on Black Friday Sale wines.
The red volcanic soil and pleasantly warm climate of this hillside vineyard combine to produce rich, fullbodied wines. Located on Sonoma Mountain with an eastern exposure, this vineyard gets early morning sun and breezes in the afternoons that temper the day's most extreme heat.
